Obituary for John Robert Nolan
John Robert Nolan passed away on January 25, 2019. He was predeceased by his wife Bernadette, his brother Thomas and his parents Blanche and Francis. John leaves behind his son Thomas and wife Linda, his daughter Lynda and husband Paul Devine, his son Jeffrey and wife Diana and his son Michael and wife Jennifer. He also had six grandchildren, Megan, Patrick, Alec, Trevor, Gavin and Brandon.
John was born in Hornell, NY on February 14, 1924 and served in the U. S. army from 1943 to 1946. After the war he studied at NYU and graduated with a degree in accounting. He became a certified public accountant and spent most of his career as a partner at Arthur Young and Company. John was based in New York City but spent a significant amount of time traveling around the world. After his retirement from Arthur Young John embarked on a second career as the Chief Financial Officer for the Henry Street Settlement on the Lower East Side of New York City.
John retired to the Jersey shore in Chadwick Beach, then on to Hilton Head, SC and spent his last 7 years in Mount Laurel NJ. John loved the beach, travelling, reading, his family and his pets. He made the best grilled “cannonball” burgers at all the family gatherings. He will be dearly missed.
