Obituary for Rudolph James Fields
Rudolph J. Fields, age 89, of Marlton, NJ, passed away January 27th, 2019 of congestive heart failure under the care of hospice. He died peacefully at home with his loving wife, Dorothy, by his side.
Rudy, a native of Philadelphia, proudly served as a sonar specialist in the US Navy from 1950-1954. He sailed on the USS Hopewell and USS Stickell during the Korean War.
Rudy was engaging, optimistic and caring by nature. He had a successful 25-year career as a pharmaceutical sales representative in the Philadelphia territory with Bristol-Myers Squibb and legacy companies. He developed many close friendships and continually refined his joke, song and story lists which he shared at gatherings to the delight of family and friends. He was loved by many and will be missed dearly.
In his later years he took up painting landscapes as a hobby and shared his creations with others. It was a treat to receive a personalized greeting card displaying his artwork each Christmas.
Rudolph is survived by his spouse Dorothy M. Fields (nee Monahan) whom he married in 2005, daughter Carol Weiberth (Franz), grandchildren Erika Greer (Thomas) and Kurt Weiberth (fiancée Aline), great granddaughter Nora Greer, brother Robert Fields (Gaye), sister-in-law Lois Gilbert (Wally), as well as stepchildren Darcy Conaty and Melissa Robinson, Marian Conaty, and Frank Conaty (Jodi) and their children Christian, Leah, Lauren and Jordan and Jessica King.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor L. (nee Maichle) in 2004, after 54 years of marriage.
A viewing will be held on Friday, February 1st from 9:15 to 10:15 AM immediately followed by the Mass of Christian Burial, both at Saint Isaac Jogues RC Church, 349 Evesboro-Medford Road, Marlton, NJ 08053. Interment will follow at Brigadier William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Rudolph’s name may be made to the American Heart Association or Wounded Warrior Project.
